Walker River Resort in Nevada
Camp Nevada: I’m talking with Leia Simmons today. She’s the Vice President at Walker River Resort in Nevada. How’s it going today, Leia?
Leia Simmons: Perfect.
Camp Nevada: So, let’s start with how long Walker River Resort has been there and how it got started?
Leia Simmons: It’s been here since 1983, and it got started by our family. It had been a cattle ranch.
Camp Nevada: Oh, okay. And what types of camping do you offer there?
Leia Simmons: We offer 130 RV sites with full hook-ups, which would be power, water, and sewer. And then we have free Wi-Fi as well.
Camp Nevada: Okay. And what are the most popular activities for the guests there?
Leia Simmons: Our favorite activity for the majority of our guests that come during the spring, summer, or fall would be ATV riding up in the desert or the Sierras.
Camp Nevada: Okay, fun. And I see a couple other things on your page here. It looks like the Sporting Clay Course is a lot of fun.
Leia Simmons: Correct. Our guests come and they shoot sporting clays. And then, during the winter months, we offer bird hunting as well. I don’t know if you want to put that on your webpage or not.
Camp Nevada: Absolutely we want to put it on there. We want to have the full spectrum of camping.
Leia Simmons: Sure.
Camp Nevada: So, one day I am talking with someone where it’s tree house camping somewhere in Oregon, and then we get something like this, which we can feature articles where more of an outdoorsman would visit this kind of resort.
Leia Simmons: Okay.
Camp Nevada: Yeah, absolutely.
Leia Simmons: Sure. And then, people do come here to fly fish in the West Walker River.
Camp Nevada: Okay. And what are some of your favorite attractions in and around that area?
Leia Simmons: Probably the most famous attraction would be going to Lake Tahoe, which is 65 miles away.
Camp Nevada: Okay.
Leia Simmons: Or they could go to Yosemite Valley, which is 100 miles away, but it’s via a rode which is much less traveled.
Camp Nevada: With Lake Tahoe, that’s just doable for a day trip.
Leia Simmons: Sure. Sure. And then people like to go to Virginia City Historical Site.
Camp Nevada: Okay.
Leia Simmons: And also Boddie, and it is also a completely preserved historical ghost town.
Camp Nevada: Oh, very cool. It sounds like fun.
Leia Simmons: Yeah. Yeah, it is a lot of fun.
Camp Nevada: Two more questions for you, Leia. If you were just going to spend one hour at Walker River Resort, how would you spend your time there?
Camp Nevada: Nice, sounds relaxing.
Leia Simmons: Yeah, it’s really nice.
Camp Nevada: And if you could spend just one night at Walker River Resort in Nevada, which specific site would you stay at and why?
Leia Simmons: I would select Site #96 because it has a nice lawn area with some boulders in it. It also has full hook-ups, and the sun sets on the west side, so you get the early morning sun in the east side.
