Camping Two Rivers Campground in North Tennessee
Camp Tennessee: I’m talking with Kathy this morning. She’s the President at Two Rivers Campground in Tennessee. Kathy, why don’t you get us started by giving us a little bit of background on Two Rivers Campground?
Kathy: Okay. Well, Nashville, Tennessee is music, USA, Music City USA. And Two Rivers Campground is located in Nashville. We are about a mile and a half from the Grand Ole Opry itself, and about ten miles from Lower Broadway, which is Downtown Nashville, where all the honky-tonks are. So, we’re centrally located for anything that you may want to do in and about the Nashville area.
Camp Tennessee: Perfect. And what types of camping do you offer there?
Kathy: We do pop-ups. RVs of course. We don’t have any campsites – you know, tent camping – at this time. We’re a small, privately owned campground, and when the campground was built, everything was put in with sewer and hook-ups and everything. So, we don’t have the area to offer tent camping at this time.
Camp Tennessee: Okay. And what are the most popular activities for guests at Two Rivers Campground?
Kathy: Well, like I said, the Grand Ole Opry is always a big draw. The Downtown honky-tonks, where everybody goes down to listen to up and coming artists. You never know when a star is going to drop in. They visit down there frequently. Of course we get a lot of football fans in. The Tennessee Titans and all the local college football teams. We get real big bunch of fans that come in for those games.
Camp Tennessee: Sure.
Kathy: Opry Mills is a huge shopping center. Again, right next to the Grand Ole Opry House itself, right down the street from us. We get a lot of people that just come to shop.
Camp Tennessee: Sure. Now, I’m assuming. I’ve always wanted to go the Grand Ole Opry. I’m assuming you’ve been.
Kathy: Oh yes, many, many times.
Camp Tennessee: What’s the favorite show that you’ve seen there? I’m curious.
Kathy: Well, you know, the Grand Ole Opry itself is a longstanding radio show. And it’s different every week. They have different artists. You may go to the Grand Ole Opry and see as many as 15 different country music stars at one time.
Camp Tennessee: Wow.
Kathy: Yeah. So, just to pick out a show is quite hard to do because it’s such a variety. Then, Downtown, they have the Ryman Auditorium. The Ryman is the original home of the Grand Ole Opry. Years ago that’s where it all started, until they got so big they had to build a bigger place out by us, by Two Rivers Campground. But they have the Country Music Show there. All sorts of genres actually play at the Ryman. You may have a comedy show or a country music show, or even some rock & roll, but Music City USA is just not country music. So, if you’re into something else other than country music, I would say come because you’re going to find it all.
Camp Tennessee: Awesome.
Kathy: In Nashville.
Camp Tennessee: Awesome. Two more questions for you, Kathy.
Kathy: Sure.
Camp Tennessee: If you were going to spend just one hour hanging out at Two Rivers Campground in Tennessee, how would you spend your time on the grounds there?
Kathy: On the grounds? Well, our swimming pool during the summertime is squeaky clean and people gravitate to that. They come down and bring their floats, and hang out there. And we also do live entertainment on our back porch stage, at least three nights a week during season, which would be April through September, which is free to all of our guests. And a lot of times we do a happy hour just prior to that entertainment, and that lasts for two hours, so they might have to spend a little more than an hour.
Camp Tennessee: That sounds like a blast. I would be there every night. And last question for you, Kathy. If you were going to spend just one night at Two Rivers Campground in Tennessee, which specific site would you stay at and why?
Kathy: Oh, goodness. I would probably pick one of our pull-through sites just for the convenience of just being able to pull-through and not unhook. Did you want a site number or just the fact of one of our pull-throughs? Would that be sufficient?
Camp Tennessee: We’re usually looking for site number just to give a little inside info to people who are doing a little research on the Park?
Kathy: Okay. Well, I would do Site 213 or 414. Either one of those two. Those are nice ones and pull-throughs, and they’re towards the back of the campground, so you’re not around the busy part of where the office is and the gift shop and convenience store and all.
Camp Tennessee: Awesome. Well, I’ll tell you what, Kathy. Nashville is definitely on my wife and I’s short list for vacation. We’ve been wanting to visit that city for quite a while. So, if we get down into that area, we’ll have to look you up. And thank you so much for taking some time out of your day to tell us about Two Rivers Campground in Tennessee.
