Shady Knoll Campground - Camping Close to Cape Cod

Shady Knoll Campground – Camping Close to Cape Cod

Camp Massachusetts had the chance to speak with Melinda of Shady Knoll Campground. She gave us some insights in to their proximity to the National Seashore and how she would spend her time in the campground.

Melinda’s Favorite Thing To Do Near the Campground
Walk to the closest town beach (1 mile from camp), Breakwater on Cape Cod Bay and check out the tidal flats. This is one of only a handful of areas in the world where the tide goes out for miles at low tide and you can walk the flats and explore the tidal pools.

Get To Know Shady Knoll Campground

When was Shady Knoll Campground founded? How did it start?
Shady Knoll was founded in the late 1950’s as a tenting only campground. It has since grown to be a full service campground offering full hook up sites, cable tv and free WiFi.

What are the most popular activities in the campground?
Shady Knoll doesn’t offer planned activities in the campground as most people stay here to enjoy the activities and beaches of Cape Cod. We do have a small playground and game room for the children.

shady knoll campgroundWhere is Shady Knoll Campground located? What are some other attractions in the area worth checking out?
Shady Knoll is located in the town of Brewster, half way between the Cape Cod Canal and Provincetown. The Cape is full of things to do, from water sports to museums to hiking, biking, shopping, dining and theaters. The National Seashore is a magnificent stretch of beaches that is accessible from many towns surrounding Brewster. We are also close to the ferries that take you to the beautiful islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.

What are the campsites like? Are they more open or secluded?
Campsites at Shady Knoll range from shady little tent sites without hookups to large spacious, but still shady full hookup sites.

If you could spend just 1 night in Shady Knoll Campground, which campsite would you choose – and why?
My choice would depend on what type of camping I was doing, tenting or RV. The sites are all nice but have different amenities for different camping needs.
