One World Bracelet Review : Two Weeks Later
Maybe it was simply the timing, or possibly the way that my internet algorithm sees me – but about a month ago, I was served an ad on Facebook for something called the One World Bracelet. It promised to allow me to carry soil and seawater samples from around the world…on my wrist. I was sold.
Unsure about what size to order, I chose one of each available (Medium and Large). It became immediately apparent once they arrived,I should never consider myself a medium. The bracelet itself is made up of 28 “beads” that appear to be heat welded together to form a continuous band. The 7 blue beads contain sea samples (Arctic, North Atlantic, South Atlantic, North Pacific, South Pacific, Indian and Southern), while 7 of the green beads contain soil samples from each of the seven continents (yes, even Antarctica!) And although I didn’t have any problems getting the large sized bracelet on, it was a pretty tight roll to fit it onto my wrist. If you’re anything larger than a small – I’d suggest ordering the large.
The morning after receiving the bracelet, I left for a week long trip to Colorado. While not a completely adventurous, it was travel…and it’s something that I love doing. I told the story of the bracelet in just about every conversation that I found myself in. One of the things that struck me as curious, was the amount of people who were skeptical of the bracelet itself. To be honest, it had never even crossed my mind. The most common question I fielded was regarding “proof” that the bracelet actually contained what I claimed it did. The second, fell somewhere into the “witchcraft” category. People who felt I was wearing it to cure an ailment or become one with Mother Earth.
I really didn’t have an answer for either.
What attracted me to the bracelet, was the spirit of adventure and travel. It’s something that I self-identify with. I suppose I could cut open the bracelet to see if it contains dirt and water…but I really don’t want to ruin it. I like the way it makes me feel.
After a short break back home, I ventured out again for a week exploring Iceland and Finland – all with the bracelet in tow. I’d look down at my wrist each day, often while having a conversation with a person that I’d never met – in a city that I had never visited – and it reminded me. I love seeing new places…even when I’m just sitting at my desk, I’ve got adventure and travel at the ready.
If you know someone (maybe yourself) who lives for travel and adventure – I think the One World Bracelet is something they need in their life. I love mine.
