Summary : For a pretty advanced piece of technology, Olympia did an awesome job making the SB5500 incredibly easy to use. Basically if you know how to charge the devices you intend to plug into it, you already know how to use the SB5500.
Let’s be honest, going a weekend without your smartphone and electronics scares the crap out of you. There is a difference between going camping and choosing not to use your phone and not being able to use it because your battery is dead. We get it. In a practical sense, it is nice to have a phone for emergency communication, to check the weather, ect. and if your fingers just happen to swipe open some text messages or instant videos we’ll just call that an accident (wink wink). Enter the Olympia SB5500. It may become your favorite new gadget to take on your next trip.
Appearance: The Olympia SB5500 almost looks like a flip-phone on steroids. With a pivot point in the middle of dual solar panels, it folds together in a compact unit. Sleek design and well built with a great feel. We appreciate how Olympia integrated the charging cables seamlessly with the overall design. The blue cables accent the black exterior perfectly and create a great looking charger.
Ease of Use: For a pretty advanced piece of technology, Olympia did an awesome job making the SB5500 incredibly easy to use. Basically if you know how to charge the devices you intend to plug into it, you already know how to use the SB5500. To use the solar charging capabilities, simply open the unit and face it toward the sun. A red LED light will display letting you know it is charging. We did mention how easy this charger is to use right?
Functionality: With fully-integrated, built-in micro SD and USB cables you will never forget the cord to charge your favorite devices. The SB5500 also features three output ports to allow for additional charging. You can charge it via standard USB, micro-USB, or solar with dual solar panels. We like that you have the ability to get a solid base charge via the USB or micro-USB and keep that high charge via sunlight. It also has a power bank for cloudy days or at night.
Value: The Olympia SB5500 is ridiculously well priced at $59.99. You get an excellent solar charge, with a two year warranty, and the ability to charge multiple devices. We love everything about it and know you will too.
