Underwear hasn’t changed much over time. We’ve had cotton boxers and briefs forever, which are terrible for hot weather. Thankfully, quick-drying synthetics came along and made our weekend hikes much more comfortable. Beyond that, there hasn’t been much in the way of innovation. Then we discovered MyPakage, a company that decided to fundamentally change the way underwear is made.
It’s a simple but profound change that they call “the keyhole.” There is a pocket on the front, and a hole that your business slips into. This eliminates any contact with your legs, and thus keeps the entire party down there clean and tidy. Everyone here that has them agrees that they are indeed the most comfortable underwear ever. The fact that they started making a merino wool pair is a campers dream come true, and is why they deserve Gear of the Year.
